Backup & Disaster Recovery

Managed Backup & Disaster Recovery

Managed Backup is bdManagedIT's backup and disaster recovery service for North Georgia businesses, combining immutable, tested backups with a documented recovery plan so a ransomware attack or hardware failure restores your business to operation in hours, not weeks.

Most small businesses discover their backup has not been working the moment they need it most. Managed Backup eliminates that risk with automated daily backups, immutable storage that ransomware cannot encrypt, and scheduled recovery tests that prove your data can actually be restored. We monitor every backup job, alert on failures before they become gaps, and maintain a documented business continuity plan so that when the worst happens, recovery is a practiced process rather than a chaotic scramble.

What's included

Immutable cloud and local backup

Every backup is written to immutable storage, meaning ransomware that reaches your network cannot encrypt or delete your recovery points. Copies are held both on a local appliance for fast restores and in geographically separated cloud storage.

Automated daily backups with monitoring

Backups run on a defined schedule and every job is monitored by bdManagedIT. If a backup fails or a retention threshold is missed, we receive an alert and investigate before the gap grows. You do not find out about a problem during a recovery attempt.

Scheduled recovery tests

We perform documented test restores on a regular cadence to verify that your backups are valid and your recovery time objectives are achievable. Test results are logged and available on request. A backup that has never been tested is not one you can rely on.

Documented business continuity plan

Beyond the backup itself, we document a step-by-step recovery runbook: who to call, what to restore first, how long each step takes, and what the business does while recovery runs. When an incident happens, no one is improvising.

What you get

Ransomware cannot destroy your recovery

Immutable backup storage means that even if ransomware encrypts every file on your network, your recovery points stay intact and unaltered. You restore from a clean backup rather than paying a ransom or rebuilding from scratch.

Recovery in hours, not weeks

A documented, tested recovery plan with local and cloud copies means the time between an incident and a functioning business is measured in hours. Businesses without a plan routinely take weeks to recover from events that Managed Backup clients survive in an afternoon.

Compliance-ready documentation

Healthcare, legal, and financial services businesses often need to demonstrate that backup and recovery procedures exist and are tested. Managed Backup produces the documentation, test logs, and retention records that satisfy HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and CJIS requirements.

No backup monitoring overhead for your staff

Backup monitoring is tedious, easy to deprioritize, and critical to get right. We absorb that responsibility entirely. Your team does not check backup logs, chase failed jobs, or manage retention schedules. We do, and we report to you on it.

Managed Backup & Disaster Recovery, frequently asked questions

How is Managed Backup different from an external hard drive or basic cloud sync?
External drives and cloud sync tools like Dropbox are not backups. They do not protect against ransomware, do not maintain point-in-time recovery, and are not monitored for failures. Managed Backup uses immutable versioned storage with tested restore procedures, monitored daily by our team. The difference matters most when you actually need to recover.
What is immutable backup storage and why does it matter for ransomware?
Immutable storage means backup data is written once and cannot be modified or deleted for a defined retention period, even by an administrator account. Ransomware encrypts files it can access and modify. It cannot alter immutable backup storage, which means your recovery points stay intact regardless of what the ransomware does to your live data.
How long does it take to restore from a Managed Backup after an incident?
Recovery time depends on how much data needs restoring and whether you recover from the local appliance or cloud storage. Local restores for typical SMB environments run in two to four hours. Cloud-only restores take longer. We document your expected recovery time as part of the business continuity plan and test against it.
Does Managed Backup cover Microsoft 365 email, or only on-premise servers?
Managed Backup covers Microsoft 365 including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams data in addition to on-premise servers, workstations, and network storage. Microsoft does not guarantee recovery of deleted or corrupted 365 data beyond a short retention window. A separate 365 backup is a distinct and necessary layer.
How often do you test the backups?
We monitor backups daily for failures and run scheduled restore tests, because a backup that has never been tested is only a hope. You get evidence that your data could actually be recovered, not just confirmation that a job ran.
